On Friday, November 16th, Founders Hall is having its big fundraiser: The Wreath Festival.
So, it’s time to leave John’s Beach behind, sadly so, and enjoy the glorious seasons of Autumn and Winter. I have so enjoyed photographing the beautiful colors that surround us.
I have contributed to Founder’s events in the past, but thought I had a better idea this time… to create a wreath that’s decorated with my cards as donations.
The wreath travelled with me to the North Fork, Long Island, where I made several stops along the way to my best friend Jackie’s in Mattituck, NY. She’s so good with this stuff, and lighting. We opened up the ugly branches and strung the battery operated star lighting I bought.
At Michael’s, in Riverhead, NY, I bought the clothes pins to affix my cards. Alas, they were bending the cards and breaking. The wreath came home via the Port Jefferson ferry and I tied each card with ribbon first. The clothespins worked better when I used the thin ribbon to secure the cards. It was really difficult to wire the battery pack for lighting, but I’m most pleased with the results!
In the above photo, you can see several cards that are some of my best sellers: Tradition (Keeler Tavern), Welcome (Ridgefield Fountain), Shining Stars, and several new ones which I am really excited about, Winter’s Whispers, (Ballard Park Gazebo), Life In The Sleigh Lane, which Andy Montanari titled and an old photo taken in NY Harbor, from my Cousin, Capt. John Eginton’s schooner, The Mystic Whaler. I titled that one, “High Hopes”.
