The Garden of Ideas is perhaps the most beautiful place that Ridgefield has to offer. For nearly several decades now, I’ve had the privilege of enjoying the Garden’s beauty. This tribute contains some of my favorite shots, and memories, from the magical Garden of Ideas.

John and I have always felt that our property is “park-like.” Some old timers called it “Brennan Corner,” but I prefer “Brennan Park.” On a recent Sunday, Grandpa John and I were pruning and weeding when I captured these beautiful images.

I have been working at The Ballard Green plant sale for the past 5 days.
Yesterday afternoon, I was walking around my garden, weeding and deciding where to put all the plants I bought.
Of course, I stopped to admire my beautiful Lois Uttley lilac that was a Mother’s Day gift from my son, Ian, some years ago. I do not remember where he lived at the time, but, he called Joe Keller of The Garden of Ideas and this was delivered for me. Other years, it was peonies.
Now, we just need some sunshine for it to open to release it’s beautiful fragrance.

I’m so happy to have refilled my card rack at Copia Home and Garden on Route 123 in South Salem.
Several of the cards were reorders of best sellers, for example: Smile, Shining Stars, and Back to the Barn.
My reason for giving my cards a title is based on Wallace Nutting, a famous New England photographer who hand colored his black and white prints.
Copia - meaning plentiful - now caters to chickens and horses and has a lovely gift shop and market that serves the best ice cream. At this location used to be Tom’s, right on the corner of East Street and 123. My sister and family lived some two miles up the road.
The drive there from Ridgefield was always so much fun, heading south on Elmwood. We called it “weeee! road” due to the hills.
Please check out my new presentation at Copia at their lovely gift shop. I should have two new locations to share soon.
Thank you.

I saw Mr. Roger’s movie in town at The Ridgefield Playhouse yesterday. Today is surely “a beautiful day in the neighborhood."
Perhaps a stroll in The Garden of Ideas to admire nature’s bounty. And, choose a card to send a smile.
Here is some of what I saw this morning...
